Honors Language Arts-10
Language Arts-9
Theater

I come from a family of educators, so you could say this is the family business. I have a Master's in English Education from the University of Minnesota as well as a Master's in Fine Arts in poetry. I have taught high school in Lakeville and I actually taught here at RWHS for a year while another teacher went on sabbatical. More recently, I've taught at the University of Minnesota in their English department and as a Montessori elementary lead here in town. There's no other way to say it: I'm so excited to be back.

This year, I am lucky enough to teach Honors Language Arts-10, Language Arts-9, Language Arts-9 Lab, and Writing in the fall, and in the spring, I will trade out Writing for Theater Arts.

Some curiosities: I live on three acres of woods with my family and a menagerie of animals; I run a small nonprofit press and publish about five books of literary prose and poetry a year; I love fiber arts; I present at national conferences on all things related to English education, motherhood and life in the arts, and the publishing industry. My teaching is at the center of so many things, and I love the connections: the ways that parenting can inform teaching and vice versa; the ways that my connections in the professional world of writing can be invaluable to students.

I am a passionate teacher who is moved when her students accomplish big work that I know has involved a great deal of effort and persistence on their part. I can't wait to see what big work is done in H-110. It's going to be a wonderful school year.
