College Admission Exams Information As the year moves forward, students will hear about the various tests that are given as part of the post–secondary planning process. Most 4 year colleges require students to take either the ACT or SAT test to use as a measure for acceptance into their school along with potential scholarship availability. You should check with each college as to what test they require/prefer. ACT Test This is the college entrance test that most students in the Midwest take. Most juniors take this test in April as they will have almost another year more of education than if they take it in October. Juniors may retake the test in June or October if they want to improve their score. More information about this test and the test registration deadlines are available at www.actstudent.org. A common question with this test is if a student should take the optional writing portion that is now required by some colleges. Unless the student knows exactly where he or she wants to go and that school does not require the written portion, students should take the written portion. ACT Testing Accommodations Students with a disability may qualify for accommodations for college entrance or placement exams, such as the AccuPlacer, ACT, or SAT. All students in grades 8-12 are eligible to use our Food Pantry here at RWHS. Students can talk to a counselor, teacher or the nurse to get connected, then will be sent home regularly with a discreet bag of food or self-care products as needed. There is no limit on who can use this service or how many times.
The Food Pantry service is handled by our nurse, Vikki LeClaire, and students are kept anonymous. This is an amazing service that we encourage our students to take advantage of. A healthy body = a healthy mind! |
